Cape and Islands Accessibility Collaborative

Building Accessible Communities Across Cape Cod and the Islands

We bring people with disabilities and municipalities together to improve accessibility through collaboration, lived experience, and shared solutions.

Our Mission

Our mission is to connect people with disabilities and municipalities through collaboration, lived experience, and shared resources so that every community on Cape Cod and the Islands becomes more accessible, inclusive, and welcoming.

Our Vision

Our vision is to make Cape Cod and the Islands the most accessible place to live, work, visit, and participate in community life.

We gather feedback from residence and visitors with disabilities

Listen

Accessibility affects residents, workers, families, visitors, older adults, and people with temporary and permanent disabilities. When we build with accessibility in mind, the entire community benefits, creating a more inclusive and resilient region for everyone.

Why Accessibility Matters

Verify

We document concerns, identify barriers, and understand local conditions.

Collaborate

We connect residents, municipal leaders, and community partners.

Improve

We provide resources, recommendations, and shared best practices.

Celebrate

We recognize communities making meaningful accessibility improvements.

Regional Collaboration

We help communities across Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket learn from one another, share resources, and avoid reinventing the wheel so accessibility progress moves faster for everyone.

A person using a powered wheelchair and another person walking beside them stroll along a wide gravel path through a lush green forest. Two small dogs walk nearby on leashes. Tall trees, ferns, and dense vegetation line both sides of the trail, creating a peaceful, natural setting. The photo is taken from behind, showing the group enjoying an accessible outdoor path surrounded by woodland scenery.
